There are lots of other things to report on today:

1st – I added a picture of Krystal at the CTV pin catch-up day with the Quatchi hat that she handmade to yesterday’s post.  Check it out here!

2nd – The Trout Lake Venue opened today and Killarney opens on Friday!  The two arenas will act as practice facilities for figure skating and short-track speed skating respectively.  These two rinks are currently open to the public; they will be under VANOC direction starting on January 15th until somewhere around February 26th (I’m sure there is a set date, I’m just not sure if the 26th is it or not).  If you have a chance, check them out and send me photos.  I think I’ll try to visit at least one on Saturday.  I need to get back to Venue visits!!  (Note: this means if you’ve got a Venue or venue that you’d like me to visit and write about, send me an email 2010vanfan@gmail.com 🙂 ).  Oh!!  And it looks like the Mascots are supposed to be at the Opening of Killarney at 4pm tomorrow (darn work anyway!!).

Oh la la! Trout Lake rink looks fabulous! I'm definitely going to have to check it out!

Killarney rink also looks wonderful! Love the colourful glass wall!

3rd – UBC has all sorts of things going on.  They announced the installation of 7 new aboriginal art pieces around Thunderbird Stadium (yes Elspeth, this means I’m coming to visit, I need photos!).  Also, starting Wednesday October 14th the Robson Square campus will be hosting a free public speaker series.  They say the majority of the series will be focussed on the Olympics and the human body.  The first session will be a panel discussion entitled ‘The Literature of the Olympics”.  I hope I can check some of them out!

4th – AHHH!!!  I was just looking at the Mascot’s Live visit page, and found the visit to Killarney, but they also have the Opening of the Olympic Superstore on their schedule for 12pm (noon) on October 1st!!  I didn’t think they were coming, but maybe they are!!  I will investigate and get back to you!  Oh! Oh!  I have my fingers and toes crossed!

And 5th – Vancouver 2010 Official Supplier Hain Celestial is sponsoring long track speed skater Kristina Groves and a program called ‘Green on the Inside‘, an educational program that aims to help people think not just environmentally green but green about how we eat.  I have previously posted about the contest they’re sponsoring to win tickets to the Games or a prize pack from Hain Celestial but they also have a neat way to show your support.  You can upload  a picture of your face to their page and it will be part of a collage with thousands of others for a national ad supporting Kristina Groves.  I’ll be uploading mine in a few minutes!  We have some creative and generous sponsors for Vancouver 2010.  Thanks to all of them for their support!

Alright, I think that’s it for tonight.  Another 7am day at work so off to bed with me.

Good night, bonne nuit!
